Arizona Opera's Aida Boasts Record Ticket Sales

Attracts Huge Audience Exceeds Target Budget with 100.54% sold

January 27, 1999

General Director David Speers announced that the January production of Aida surpassed projected tickets sales in both Phoenix and Tucson. All four Phoenix performances achieved attendance over 100% averaging a grand total of 100.54% (including the sale of donated or returned tickets). Two of Tucson's three performances reached 92% attendance, and the Tucson Sunday matinee reached an all time high of 99.8% sold. With the success of Aida, the production surpassed projected goals by $57,000 and the total revenue generated was
$556,142.

"It is an exciting time for Arizona Opera, both artistically and at the Box Office," remarked Speers. "I am thrilled with the response from our patrons, and believe that the rest of the season will be met with the same enthusiasm."
