Don't Attend the Opera alone, join the O Solo Mio' s!

Arizona Opera's new ticket package for opera lovers without companions.

September 12, 1997

Arizona Opera wants all audiences to experience the passion, love, jealousy and intrigue of the upcoming season. In response to the numerous requests by patrons attending last year's performances by themselves, Arizona Opera has designed a program for those who are in need of opera companionship, the ‘O solo mio.

"The 'O solo mio' package is geared for opera lovers of all ages. Often we hear of people who love the opera but don't have anyone to go with," commented Laura Schairer, Director of Marketing. "So instead of staying home, we will introduce them to people who share their plight. No longer will opera lovers suffer without opera!"

Arizona Opera has reserved a block of season tickets for the Sunday matinee, TCC Music Hall in Tucson and the Friday Evening performance, Symphony Hall in Phoenix. Arizona Opera will seat all participating 'O solo mio' patrons together. The O Solo Mio package is $135 and includes tickets to all five operas, a glass of wine or coffee at intermission and guaranteed seating with other O Solo Mio patrons.

October and November will feature two operas based on Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, Roméo et Juliette by Gounod and Otello by Verdi, and a premiere in January, La Gioconda by Ponchielli with the distinguished Phoenix Symphony and Ballet Arizona. In February, Cosí Fan Tutte, Mozart's delightful romp into the world of male-female relationships and in March, Puccini's tragic masterpiece, Tosca.

Tickets on sale now by calling Arizona Opera at (520)293-4336 in Tucson or (602) 266-7464 in Phoenix.

Significant season support by the Flinn Foundation and the Carol Franc Buck Foundation. Arizona Opera is funded by grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Phoenix Arts Commission and the Tucson/Pima Arts Council. Printing of the Season brochure by Great Western Publishing. America West is the official airline of Arizona Opera.
